Christmas is a season of giving, celebration, and gathering with family. In December 2025, FarmAny hosted the Santa’s Bag SDGs Market, bringing together local producers and the community to celebrate Christmas while encouraging more sustainable shopping habits. The event was held at the Kawamotoya parking lot in Ogaki City as part of the Gifu SDGs Festival 2025.
A Christmas Market with an SDGs Theme
The idea behind the market was simple: make Christmas shopping enjoyable while reducing waste and supporting local producers.
Each participating vendor prepared special “Santa’s Bag” packages filled with carefully selected products. Visitors could discover seasonal foods, meet local producers, and learn about the sustainability initiatives behind each business. The event also served as an opportunity for information sharing and community networking around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Supporting Local Producers
The market welcomed producers from Ogaki and neighboring areas, offering a diverse selection of locally produced foods.
Visitors could purchase products including:
- Rice
- Rice flour
- Sweet potatoes
- Taro
- Ginkgo nuts
- Seasonal winter vegetables
- Honey
- Bamboo charcoal for gardening and soil improvement
By purchasing directly from local producers, visitors were able to support regional agriculture while enjoying fresh, seasonal products.
Learning Healthy Movement for Everyday Life
In addition to shopping, visitors attended a special seminar titled “How to Use Your Body Effectively in Farming and Everyday Life.”
The lecture introduced practical techniques for improving posture, reducing physical strain, preventing injuries, and maintaining long-term health. While especially valuable for people involved in agriculture, the advice was applicable to everyday life and reflected the SDG goal of promoting health and well-being.
Part of the Gifu SDGs Festival
The event was officially registered as one of the activities in the Gifu SDGs Festival 2025, a regional initiative encouraging residents, businesses, and local governments to learn about and take action toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
By combining local food, education, and community participation, the market demonstrated how small local events can contribute to broader sustainability efforts.
Explore FarmAnyLooking Ahead
The Santa’s Bag SDGs Market showed how local food, community engagement, and sustainability can come together in a fun and meaningful way.
FarmAny was created to make these connections possible—not only through special events but every day. By connecting consumers directly with local producers, we hope to make fresh food, sustainable shopping, and regional communities more accessible throughout the year.
